How to tell if my aquarium plants are doing okay?
Hello!
I've planted my first aquarium and I'm very cutie on how to do this.
Currently inhabiting my tank is a small lawn of dwarf hair grass. It came on a mat. Red foxtail for my guppies fry, a small Java fern, a banana plant, staurogyne repens in the foreground, golden creeping Jenny, and ludwigia repens.
I planted the staurogyne repens, the banana plant, and the Java fern first. They have been in there for 3-4 days. I haven't seen very much melt. Just a little on the Java fern yesterday and no more today. Everything is green.
Today I added the foxtail, creeping Jenny, dwarf hair grass, and ludwigia repens.
I have two T5 bar lights that give off 36 watts all together. My tank is a 10 gallon, 20x10x12", I have Eco-complete substrate and I inject my water with liquid co2. I also use seachem flourish. I de-chlorinate my water with seachem prime.
For fish, I have three adult guppies.
Does my setup sound okay? And how do I know if my plants aren't doing well? This is my first planted tank and I'm worried about them not rooting and stuff

Are you adding fertilizers? If you have high light and CO2 the demand for nutrients increases. If you don't dose fertilizers the plants will start absorbing their own leaves leaving a nasty brown color on them. If you are not dosing any, stop adding co2, take out one of the bulbs in the light fixture to leave 18 watts of light, and leave your tank like that until you can buy some fertz. Ask in some forums to know how much you should dose.
P.S. you don't need an airstone if your filter is causing enough surface agitation.

Good luck on your planted aquarium!
