Backing up multiple versions of Windows with multiple PC's of each version.?

So to clarify this. We have:

10 - Windows 10 machines

10 - Windows XP Pro Machines

1 Windows 7 machine

My question is two part.

Say I backed up one Windows 10 machine and imaged it would that be OK to restore all 9 other Windows 10 machines I'm more concerned about product keys and what not here. Same question for the XP machines.

Secondly am I OK backing these up to the same external HDD we have on the network.

What are you trying to do, backup your data or image the entire machine? If you want to image a PC and load it onto the others you need to make sure the hardware setup is near exact to what the first machine it. Make an image of 1 Windows 10 PC and then load it onto the other 9 through MDT.

If you just want to create backups of the PCs, you can create a backup script on notepad using Robocopy, save it as a batch file and use Task scheduler on each machine to backup at a certain point. Or, if yo have a primary workstation/server you could use group policy to manage each machines backup to one primary location.

you cannot put an image from one pc onto another. Windows knows the BIOS identifier etc and will declare it invalid. you can do that for Identical pc's provided the Licence is a corporate one(multi-user) but usually this is NOT the case.
