Rabbits ARE NOT bred for certain personality traits. It is mostly about physical appearance. So there simply are no specific breeds that have personalities more conducive to therapy work. It totally depends on the individual temperament of the individual rabbit -- nothing to do with breed.

Getting one young "so it can be tamed" is also a myth (that Dale hasn't discovered yet). Handling babies when young is not going to ensure they are tame and handle-able. In fact, too much handling can have the opposite effect. This is substantiated in the 2014 Rabbits USA magazine, and confirmed by others on my rabbit forum as well. A rabbit's innate personality will remain regardless of early handling.

The best (and probably only) way to find such a therapy rabbit is to meet individual rabbits at a rabbit rescue that have already been fixed. Only these rabbits have evident personalities. So only by meeting specific rabbits (regardless of breed) can you find a rabbit with a specific temperament.

Well all I have to say is get them young. Most rabbits can scratch a lot. I tamed my rabbit and he is the sweetest he gives kisses and makes humming noises. I currently have three litters coming soon! And I am going to to tame them. It takes patience and bonding with the animal! Don't let people fool you males can be just as sweet. All my females have scratched me. (Because they had babies) but do your research and get the perfect pet!
