My cat never has hairballs?

I've been told that cats should have hairballs about once a month. He hasn't had one for over a year. He grooms himself normally and is very healthy. I just don't know if what I was told was wrong, or if something is wrong with him

Normal. Only 1 of cats throws up hairballs on a regular basis (and I think its because she is always cleaning herself). One throws up hairballs maybe 2-3 times a year. The other 3 cats never throw up hairballs.

That's a good thing, my cat never has them either. There is nothing wrong with your cat. Whoever told you they should to have them once a month is very misinformed.

Count yourself lucky. Some cats don't do it much, others hawk up a ton of fur (usually the longhaired cats have more of a problem).
