Must I open a new bank account?

The gov has sent a letter saying I must and it's too much of a headache, may I keep the one I've got?

    What does the government have to do with your bank account. Call the bank and ask what the situation is.

    Frankly sounds like a scam. Does the letter ask you to fill out a form and send it back? Does the form ask for your financial identity, the better to rob you blind?
