Is it okay to use CaribSea Eco-Complete for the base instead of sand?

I bought this for my salt water aquarium from Amazon , but it seems like it's for fresh water aquariums..

I bought it because I read somewhere that black base brings up the colors of the fishes.

but it seems like everybody is buying live sand for their salt water tanks.

so is it gonna be a problem?

Thanks

Live sand would be better but it's in no way necessary!
