There are many lobbyists who represent organizations like enviornmental groups, the humane society, the aspca etc. etc. etc. They further very good causes when there may not be a monetary incentive to pass pro legislation for those causes.
The general term "lobbyist" usually calls to mind the professionals who find ways to give monetary incentives to legislators to buy their vote for legislation that benefits the large corporations they work for. All legislators meet with lobbyists but not all are influenced to vote for their agendas. Important to remember.
