Can a LAPD officer afford a $60k car?

Hello everyone I'm 17 and ive always wanted to become a lapd officer I plan to become a officer for 15 years then become a D.E.A agent from there. This was in the lapd website "

demy, the starting base salary for Police Officer I shall be $57,420. The officer will earn this rate until graduation from the Police Academy.

Upon completion of the academy and assignment to the field as a probationary Police Officer I, the officer shall be paid $60,552.

Upon completion of probation and advancement to the rank and pay grade of Police Officer II, an officer with NO college degree, military experience or prior law enforcement experience shall be paid $64,916.

Upon completion of probation and advancement to the rank and pay grade of Police Officer II, an officer WITH a college degree (AA or higher) OR at least two years of military or prior law enforcement experience shall be paid $67,442.

Subsequent salary movement for a Police Officer II shall occur after one year of aggregate service to the next higher step in the range for Police Officer II."

I'm planning on becoming a police officer ll. With a bachelor's degree. They win 70k a year not including overtime plus D.E.A agents win 100k a year? Do you think I'll be able to afford a 50-60k car? I love cars. How many cars that are 20k below can i own in my house with that kind of salary? I really want a 2010 gtr r35 that go for 60k in the dealer

No. An LAPD officer just out of the academy starts at $60,552. The information on salaries is public and I've linked the LAPD website below. Realistically, most officers have to work some overtime. Even so, the officer might make $70,000 with that. Most people finance cars and with say a 6,000 down payment and a loan term of 5 years, the officer could afford a $25,000 new car.

Nope...and just so you know, even with experience, DEA agents start at a GS-7 or GS-9 level - which means that you would be earning the equivalent of $50,000 to $60,000 starting out. It takes at least 4 years to get to the GS-13 level (where you would be earning the equivalent of $100,000). And that assumes you do your job as well as you can. After GS-11, grade promotions are not guaranteed.

NO. That's more than an entire year's salary at the base pay level. Plus, you have taxes taken out of your income. The amounts listed are always before taxes so your take home pay is less. And you don't win your income, you earn it.

NOT financially or with out side jobs.
