How do you get rid of the fryer oil when you clean out the deep fryer?

We were bought it for Xmas and have used vegetable oil. I've emptied it into the original container but what do I do with it now?

you stick it in the back of your fridge and forget about it til you wish to fry again!! It will NOT spoil there, but might go rancid in the pantry.

I leave the fryer oil in the fryer!! If I strain it, I put it back into the fryer til the next "fry-day"!

depending on how often you have used it, strain it and use it again. You can use fryer oil over and over until it gets too dark or till it smells rancid. the only time I do NOT reuse is if I used it to fry meats because it then has meat fats in it as well and can spoil more easily. When you are ready to discard, toss the filled oil container into the trash. done.

I cool my oil and pour it into an empty milk jug, put it in the freezer until trash day, then I throw it out.

If you have a composter empty it there, if not, you can empty it in the backyard somewhere out of the way. It is biodegradable and will not hurt the lawn. Of course make sure it is cool and spread it around.

I freeze mine and put it in my bin on trash day.
