What type of oil is best in a deep fryer?

We used vegetable oil but the smell once it is turned on is awful and the small lingers in the house for at least a day afterwards. What oil is best to use?

There are new frying oil blends being sold. I have some called LuAnn Southern frying oil that I found at a Hardware store of all places. I think Wesson also makes a frying oil. I think they are blends of Peanut and vegetable oils. You may also be using too high a temp, 350F should be enough.

We use sunflower oil and don't have a problem. Vegetable oil is a cheap mixture of various oils.

I definitely prefer fruit and vegetables more. I don't like all the acid generally in most fruits.
