Why, when I'm in the shower, does hot/very warm water feel cold and slightly numb on my lower back?

I've looked everywhere online for answers but can't find anything. This has been going on now for about half a year.

Could be because the higher part of your back is getting hit by more direct hot water. The difference in temperature from your higher back and lower back can cause that icy lower feeling.
