Transmission help?

So what happens when i put it into gear, any gear, it goes in I give it gas and it's slow to go but eventually goes into somewhat normal operation. Could this simply be low/old fluid or is the transmission going out?

I checked the fluid and maybe it's just the honeycomb end that makes it hard to see but i barely saw any on there

A mechanic has to test it. There are many possibilities. Fluid should show on the dipstick when the car is on level ground. Two levels are marked- one for hot and one for cold. After you get the level right for cold, warm the car up and check the hot level. Fluid makes the connection between the engine and the transmission.

First off you do know that you check the fluid with the engine running don't you? And you also know that once it slips like you said it was that you have burnt it beyond putting a little fluid in.
