Is Pakistan as dangerous as portrayed in the media?
I want answers from Pakistanis or people that have been there before. I've read about an American photographer going there (from a Facebook page called Humans of New York) who wrote a few inspirational stories about the locals there. They seemed friendly and he made it back safe.
Is it really that dangerous? Or the North West part is? Or everything is exaggerated?
Also, are Bengalis welcome there, given the dark history between the 2 countries?

Ok so I don't live on pakistan and I've only been there twice a really long time ago. My relatives who like there never complained about any of the things that are shown in the media. Yes that crime rate is quite high in the major cities, but that's everywhere. The things that are shown in the media have mainly in certain places. Only those specific places are dangerous and it's best to avoid them. Otherwise, pakistan is a beautiful nation with beautiful people and a beautiful culture.

Pakistan is the kind of place where you try to make yourself as invisible as possible and hope for the best. Pakistan, even in Karachi, isn't always the friendliest to outsiders and it would not be hard to make an inconvenient foreigner go away. Oh and as a general rule, you may want to stay away from the villages.

Honestly, it just depends on the area that you visit. It's just like anywhere you go, but there will be bad areas.
