How difficult is it to learn Mongolian?

I want to learn the language my grandfather spoke, sadly he is not here with me anymore. He passed a while back. I am a native English speaker but I speak the Filipino language Tagalog proficiently. Would that help me in any way in learning Mongolian?

    Neither english nor Tagalog will help you learn Mongolian, it's just completely different. That said, it's not very complicated and once you get over the initial hurdles of agglutination and word order, you should be able to reach a decent level of fluency within 2 years or so.

    It could be hard if you are not used to Cyrillic and SOV.

    Subject object verb example in English would be considered in wrong but correct in other languages
