How do you add device storage to an Android Samsung Galaxy Grand Prime?

I saw that I could partition my SD card to turn some of it into device storage rather than external storage. When I search online how to do this, I get a bunch of pages full of words I do not yet understand. Can someone take my step by step how to expand my local device storage? I want to be able to access it locally on my device rather than only using the external storage.

if this is a phone, (I dunno), hook it up to a laptop via the USB, and make a folder on your hard drive, and call it something like "PHONEBACKUP" or something. Take the folders off your phone and put them onto the laptop. I would not know any other way. Hope this helps.
