I have a motorcycle tire that is 140/80-17 and need a replacement tire that is 140/90-17 will it work for it does the side width matter?

    That's a taller tire, not wider. The first number is the width in millimeters. The second number is a percentage of the first. The third is the rim size in inches.

    I'm assuming that this is a front tire? It will probably be fine. It's not that much bigger. Doubt it's big enough to rub anything.

    Parker is wrong, the extra 10mm is the width measurement.

    You should have no problem as it's just 5mm per side but check to see your clearances.
