is there a difference between john mayer and dead and company...?

Wanna take my gf to a John Mayer concert but it keeps saying I'm buying tickets for Dead and Company. Would they still play John Mayer songs or are they like a completely different thing...

    Way different but take her to the show.

    They only play Grateful Dead songs or covers they would have played.

    John Mayer is a good guitarist but most people just think of him as a pussy pop artist.
