Worlds toughest computer question! Stumped me and many others!?
So here's what happened:
One day Windows demanded I upgrade to W10. A few days after this, I was using my laptop on Google Chrome when all of a sudden it refuses to respond. I then restarted my computer and got "No Bootable Device".
Initially:
1. BIOS and Boot Manager would not read my hard drive (Western Digital Blue model: WD5000LPVX). Disk Part from
command prompt would not read my HDD.
2. I tried using a W10 Boot USB from Microsoft's website to reinstall the boot configuration data as this is what was notified in a blue screen was wrong (along with the error code 0xc000000f).
3. I could not fix windows as I could not delete/repair/install/even touch because it said my HDD was locked.
4. I restarted my computer days after, ran a memory diagnostic which took a long time to complete (i left it going over night).
5. Now BIOS and boot manager can read my HDD! However I can no longer boot from a Bootable USB.
6. I tried downloading a W8.1 (the original Windows version that came with my crappy Acer laptop, preinstalle) Boot USB and still no luck.
7. Legacy and EUFI modes both wont boot the HDD or Boot USB.
8. A) If I do not touch anything, my laptop stays at the Acer screen now (before I ran the memory diagnostic it would go to a blank screen saying No Bootable Device).
B) F12 goes to Boot Manager where it will freeze if i select HDD or if i select USB it goes to acer screen > black screen > frozen.
C) F8 safe mode doesnt work
D) ALT + F10 freezes at "Acer Logo, Please Wait"

Windows 10 is becoming famous for how many hard drives it has crashed and ruined. The reason your ALT + F10 is freezing is because M$ deleted your recovery partition when you upgraded to 10. There is no going back using it.
First thing we need is the model number of the Acer.
Without it this is just a general answer that may or may not help.
The first thing I would do is reset the CMOS by removing the CMOS battery. Take the battery out for a full minute or more. The video below might help. It is for a Acer Asprie.

If that restore the boot function from the USB and stops the freezing when trying to select a boot device the I would recommend that you go back to 8. You can create a Media creation tool and download here. You will need your product key to use it. Supposedly 8 and 8.1 product keys will work. I make no guarantees.
Source(s): TWB 35+ years of experience in the service industry. You name it, I have probably fixed it. I did not design it, I did not build it, I did not break it, but I am the one who can fix it. What that means is that I have spent a life time taking these things apart and seeing how they are made. The difficult we do right away, the impossible just takes a little longer. I hear voices, so please be quiet so I can listen to them. - FrancisLv 75 years ago
if you were going down this line all personal stuff inc favourites / bookmarks and game files should have been backed up before you even think of a major upgrade. Updating your BIOS before you started would have helped. The only way I see out of this is to take the drive out and put it in a dock and remove your files then format it and do a full custom install on Win 10 - pick your way through every page tailoring what you want particualrly comms. When its up and running update ALL your drivers and tidy it up cosmetically.
If you had asked for assistance before you did anything it would have been much easier.

ADDiTIONALLY (PLEASE READ)
* Files on the HDD must be kept and cannot be lost!
* Acer D2D is enabled
* I have only STOCK firmware, software, and hardware
* It basically freezes at any direction I go in!!
So my question is this:
How the hell can I get my Boot USB to load so I can try to repair Windows now that my HDD is loading and being shown it exists, OR how can I load Acer's backup recovery image to repair Windows to default (while keeping files - I seen a video on a way to do this however it wont work)
