How do I transfer files from an old hard drive onto my new computer?
I bought a cable to connect the hard drive to my new computer via USB, but the hard drive isn't showing up anywhere in my file explorer or anything.

It is probably on down the list on the left side. When a USB device is first attached a message appears and a sound chimes to alert you. Also, try the hard drive adapter--it must be an adapter with power- on a different system. It may not be compatible with Windows 8 thru 10. If your OS has no driver and windows 10 probably does not have one, you can connect to a windows 7 system and transfer files to a thumb drive and then to the new computer. Be careful with the USB adapter- I broke the power connector on the side of my drive- keep the cables straight. Good Luck

Did you get the new computer because the old one broke down? Therein might be the issue.

those wores are useless cause they dont provide enough power for it shoud have bought an enclosure
