What is the minimum gauge wire I should use to make mini battery boost cables for my motorcycle?
I want to make jumper cables to hide under my motorcycle seat, in case the battery ever dies, what is the lightest gauge wire to use to make wind up and storage easy. I have 25A clips. thxs

The standard battery to starter cables are usually 6 GA. Motorcycle starters surge about 70-80 amps then draw 30-40 while cranking. Harley's draw more. If that is your question. 6 to 8 feet of 10 GA (or bigger) wire & good copper clamps will work fine in a pinch. As long as you leave the cables connected to the drained battery for a few minutes to give a partial charge before hitting the starter

First, toss the 25A clips. Depending on the bike, you need 50 to 100 amps. Solder the clips on and use at least 8 gauge. You're going to have a hard time fitting decent cables under the seat.

The bigger the wire the better the jump.
That said- a stranded wire 10 should work out for a 4-6 ft. reach but that's pretty tight for 2 vehicles and people.

I'd say 4 gauge minimum, and only use them 2-3 times before you make another set.

I bought a pair and carry them with me at all times. They are the right gauge, have the right clips and are attached to each other except at the ends. Neater combo and not that expensive.

i'd use 10g silicone type flexible wire like is used for rc vehicles ..
