Why aren't the painkillers killing my pain?

I recently had two 'band' brackets put on my top two back molars. I have teeth growing in right behind them so the gums are low, my cheeks are also pretty chubby so my gums and cheeks keep on getting shredded by the brackets, which are sharp. I took two Beyer this morning and was in pain all through the day, I took two Ibuprofen after lunch but it wasn't any help. When I got home, I took four Beyer and three Ibuprofen yet, over an hour later, I am still in a bunch of pain!!!!

Is the pain from the brackets shredding the inside of your cheeks? What you need is to stop further irritation where you're already raw. Buy some dental wax (or get it free from your orthodontist). It's thin, malleable wax strips you can put over your brackets where they rub. Remove and discard before eating, then put on new.

Stop overdosing yourself with analgesics. All you'll accomplish is messing up your kidneys and your liver. Knothead. If it is unbearable, call your dentist and get a script for pain pills.
