I think VERY few people are motivated to go to Rio for that, but if they're there, they probably think "that's a really good statue". You might as well ask "why does the Statue of Liberty act as a motivator to visit New York?"
ps There are "big things" up and down the Australian East Coast. I doubt people make a trip out of them, but if they're there, many people stop.
