My dog has really smelly ears what can i do to get rid of the odor?
My dog has always had really smelly ears. I clean then out regularly. It isnt an ear infection either. Sometimes coconut oil masks the smell but only for a short
period of time. What can i do to get rid of the odor?

It sounds like your dog probably gets chronic yeast infections. Mix a solution of half white vinegar and half water. Flush the ears by squirting the solution in to them and massaging the ear to disperse it throughout. Get something soft like a tissue or a cotton ball and clean the folds and creases in the ear, but do not stick anything into the ear canal like a Q-tip, as it could damage the ear drum.
Yeast infections are caused by excessive moisture being trapped in the ear. Clean your dog's ears with this solution once weekly for maintenance and as needed in between when they start to get smelly.
Be sure to follow up with your veterinarian for any medications that may be needed for infection.

Take her to a vet for a proper diagnosis/treatment.
Depending on the breed you should leave them alone, they don't need to be cleaned out regularly.
Stop putting stuff in the ears that shouldn't be in there such as "coconut oil". Chances are that's what's causing your problem.
Healthy properly cared for ears don't smell.

It's probably a yeast imbalance related to eating a poor diet. Feed the coconut oil- don't put it in his ears! One tablespoon at each meal paired with a high quality, grain free diet should help. You can also flush the ears with a solution of vinegar and water every few weeks to keep them clean.

You still need to take him to the vet because you're NOT a vet so you could be wrong. I know it's a shock to see that you're mistaken about it, but deal. Only a vet can correctly diagnose the problem and help you treat it.

Do you give your dog a bath ever? Because you can carefully clean the outside of the ears with pet shampoo and conditioner - just make sure it doesn't get on the inside of the ear or water

If the ears smell, something isn't right. So there is something going on - your vet will be able to look deep into the ear and diagnose. Healthy ears shouldn't smell bad.

Hate to tell you but your dog does have an ear infection and needs to see a vet if you want it cleared up.

Take it to the vet.
