Basketball I.Q. question....What is more important ...rebounds and assists from a player or high field goal and free throw percentage?

High Field Goal and Free Throw Percentages.

You need to know more information. Rondo gets a ton of assists, but he also looks for assists, sometimes to a fault when he is passing up scoring opportunities or forcing passes into traffic. Curry, on the other hand, doesn't average crazy assist numbers, but his passing ability is every bit that Rondo's is. Tyson Chandler owns the single season record for field goal %, but he has never been a great offensive player. Field goal % is only useful when comparing players who take shots from the same spots on the court.. Free throw percentage is valuable for a guy like Durant, who takes a bunch, but means nothing for a guy like J.J. Redick, who takes very few.

Depends on what the rest of the team does well and what the team needs that player to do. A team full of shooters with no great rebounders or distributors would benefit more from the guy who can rebound and distribute. A team full of rebounders that's solid at the point guard position would probably benefit more from having a knockdown "shooter" than another guy who rebounds and assists well but isn't a great shooter.

I'll take a 1 or 2 guard with high FG% and high FT%. A big man that can rebound and kick the ball out? THat's way better than any old forward who can hit 3 footers.

I'd say both are equally important. As for which one I'd prefer, probably rebounds and assists, since it shows they're a team player.

Rebounds assists as well as free thrown which usually can determine the winner of the game.
