I am not a huge fan of IPAs, but I want to try to expand my craft beer horizons a bit. What are some milder IPAs I could try?

Just keep trying different kinds od beers. Most beers have hops in them and IPAs have a high hop concentration. Choose something like a light ale - there are plenty of them around.

IPA must, by definition, be bitter. You might try a barley wine. It has more hops than an IPA but, because of the high malt content, you don't taste the hops as much. Warning: don't try to consume your entire batch in one sitting. You might not be able to stand up after the second one.

I'm not, either. I don't know that you would consider it mild, but New Belgium Ranger IPA is my favorite of this style. It has an incredible floral aroma and fantastic flavor. The bitterness seems almost complementary.

Goose Island IPA is rather mild. I also like Fresh Squeezed IPA which is pretty sweet for an IPA.

this beer will make you a fan of IPA. it's also available in 6-packs now.

  • Why not try things that aren't IPAs?
