Question about USPS shipping?

I know that to be a USPS first class package, a package has to weigh 13 ounces or less. But my question is this: can a box be shipped as a first class package? I have a smaller sized item that I need to ship, but it s a little to big to fit comfortably in a padded envelope. And all of the first class packages that I ve seen have been in padded envelopes. Thanks!

    Go to usps.gov and look put in the size and weight and see the options. You don t need their packaging so just get a box or bag that fits.
