This question is an example of why SOME immigrants are having a tough time and not finding jobs.

    1) You cannot form complete sentences in English.

If you cannot communicate effectively in at least one of the two official languages, it will be tough for a Canadian company to justify hiring you. This is a problem that the recent Syrian refugees faced. Luckily, they have ESL courses that are available to them.

    2) Searching for information in the wrong environment or location.

The minister responsible for immigration in Canada is indeed John McCallum. But he does not spend his day reading Yahoo! Answers and other websites looking for questions addressed to him. If you want to contact the minister, you go to the right place. If you can't figure out how to reach him properly, perhaps you are also looking in the wrong places for job offers and your job search.

    3) Many immigrants have too high expectations.

They hear about Canada as being this place that magically has job offers for everyone who arrives, that gives out free healthcare, that pays for you to live here. Have you ever heard of the saying "There is no such thing as a free lunch"? Canada is heavily dependent on oil and various natural resources. As you probably heard, the price of oil has plummeted. So that means major deficits in Alberta and other parts of Canada, and companies have had to lay off workers. How can Canada offer a good paying job to immigrants when the country cannot even help existing Canadians keep working? Unless you have skills that are in demand in Canada, you will find it hard to get a job. And professional artist is NOT a job in high-demand. And "professional handyman" is not a category. You are a handyman. Which is a very common job people do in Canada. There are hundreds of "handymen" out of work.

Remember that there is nothing preventing you from returning to your original homeland if you feel that Canada is not the utopia that you thought it was. What is the job market and healthcare situation like in Tehran or Islamabad, out of curiosity?

Do you really think the immigration minister of Canada is on YA??

The entire professional class immigration is a huge scam. It's basically a scheme to get labour. To get people to work the jobs locally born Canadians will not do for minimum wage.

In defence of the asker, I have attended an information session/sales pitch immigration Canada holds. Its all positive, abundant jobs, lots of opportunities, a need for professionals, ease in finding a career in your field and having all educational and professional certification recognised.

(I was there for different reasons but knew one of the embassy guys so hung around).

There are many in Canada already with your skills, but, no job. Why should we accept more from overseas?
