How do I get over my fear of conflict?

My biggest fear is conflict. I avoid conflict at all costs and always hide feelings that may cause anger or rejection. If there is an issue that I am dwelling on, I hardly ever tell anyone because I fear conflict. I almost always lie about how I feel and it really affects me.

That's not good, I don't like conflict too but I'm not going to let people walk over me. You have to set some boundaries and self respect. You do not have to hurt someone else to get your message across. You don't have to explode and let your anger on the loose to let someone else know what's on your mind.

Stick to the facts, do not be taken back by someone else's loud voice or anger. You aren't here to please people. To have healthy amount of self respect you need to know when to tell someone they can't cross the line, and if you can't do that for yourself you can't really have enough respect for others as well. What is there to give if you don't have any even for yourself.

You can act in self defense but not with the intention to hurt someone else, but to show them the consequences of their actions. If you allow them to hurt you, you are pro violence because you're allowing them to violate you.

First you have to address your lack of confidence. Fear of anything reflects a lack of confidence. So figure out why you feel insecure, work on improving the situation and find ways to feel better about yourself.

Create conflict-- the kind that won't kill you. Get used to the feeling. Exposure therapy.
