Can someone please explain this quote to me? I think it has something to do with ancient Greece or Rome?

"My name is Brutus but the people will call me Rex"

Rome. Brutus was one of the conspirators who killed Julius Caesar. "Rex" is Latin for "king"; in Rome at that time (the end of the Roman Republic), "Rex" was a pretty bad word. Romans tended to regard their ancient history, hundreds of years earlier, when they were ruled by kings, as a bad time. So in this song Brutus is saying two things at once: He thinks he's going to become the king of Rome, but if the people call him "king" that probably means they don't like him.

It is not Greek but Roman in his speaking to Julius Caesar foretelling of the ides of March and Caesars doom.
