Try growing your own beautiful nails and you will not have the pain and damage of acrylics or other fakes. [BTW, I am not a professional manicurist. I am just a regular person (former teacher, actually, who suffered for many years with nails that looked worse than pigs' feet!]

I spent many, many years biting, picking and weakening my nails even further with about ten years of fakes. My new routine is inexpensive, ongoing and time saving - no salons, no high prices, no fills, no worry! Here is what I did and I have had no worries about them since. In fact, I have had fun seeing just how long they can grow - but I have settled on about 1/4 inch beyond my fingertips because that is the easiest to file (always square) and maintain.

Over three years ago my doctor advised me to take Vitamin E for my badly picked and bitten nails. I was ready to try anything, believe me! This worked beyond my wildest dreams! My nails are strong and healthy and ugly deformed bumps on my thumb nails disappeared. Now they grow and grow fast! I use a rectangular nail block to keep them a good length (no talons for me!) and I pamper them with good hand lotion and cuticle cream. I use Develop 10, from Amazon, which is a great strengthener as well as being a shiny clear polish that can be reapplied every few days. One trick that I found on my own is a real winner - I clasp my hands together while watching TV , sometimes massaging in hand cream at the same time. I also have worry stones (from eBay), inexpensive but beautiful smooth stones to rub when stressed) all over the place - in my purse or pocket, on the nightstand, near my couch, and a bowl of them as decor on the coffee table! I check for rough spots or snags on my nails regularly and go after them with the nail block so that no breakage will occur. I even use the nail block for dry, hard places on the skin around my nails, leaving nothing to bite or pick. I am very satisfied to have, finally, a routine that works. And I even painted them a sparkly silver - a first for me!

Another suggestion that I frequently use is to slather my hands with Vaseline, Bag Balm or Elizabeth Arden Eight Hour Cream and wear soft cotton gloves to bed. You do not need expensive gloves - a really soft pair of cheap all-cotton gardening or work gloves will do. The difference in the morning is amazing!

Same problem.. I got way better... Get acrylics so maybe next time you want to bite your nails you will not want to because you do not want to ruin the beauty... Or purchase products form your local store. When I was about 4 my mom would put this nasty tasting non toxic product on my nails and I still thank her today because I now have beautiful natural nails

Braces made me stop. Also drenching them in hand sanitizer is great. Im kind of a germ freak too so i dont do it that much, but i still will bite at them a little every once in a while.

Honestly, I still have that annoying habit but Im slowly decreasing the "Biting ratio"

I guess all I did was find a purpose for not biting my nails anymore... you should do the same

Rub really spicy food on your nails everyday.
