A "Greenhouse" is a mostly glass-walled building with the glass about the color of an old Coca-Cola

bottle. Greenhouses are used as indoor gardens in places with somewhat short plant growing seasons.

    Seeds are planted indoors; given fertilizer and water and when sunlight enters the air inside warms up;

more growth temperature for plants. Since the glass is GREEN reflected light, strong outside goes

through the glass but lacks energy to escape back out. INSIDE the Greenhouse the temperature

and humidity reach 'air density' good for the plants.

    , ,

Carbon Dioxide, Ozone, Methane, water vapor (clouds) in the world atmosphere ACT like the glass on

a 'Greenhouse'. The air near the surface where PEOPLE LIVE gets thicker; WEATHER changes.

Weather CLEANS STUFF out of the air; Burning high-sulfur coal made smoke Full of Carbon Dioxide

and Sulfur-Dioxide. When the Sulfur Dioxide went into the air and formed raindrops in clouds the

drops were Sulfuric Acid -- "Acid Rain". When Gasoline contained Ethyl Lead engine exhausts put

Lead Oxide into the air; VERY thick Smog that caused health and environment problems.

ANYTHING that burns for heat or Power generation releases Carbon Dioxide ( C O2 ) as wells as

Carbon Monoxide ( C O ). In the atmosphere these gases float upward only a certain distance. They

form a layer. IF WEATHER doesn't or can't MIX them with other gases they produce the Greenhouse

    Effect.

    , ,

Many commenters SHOUT that Carbon is GOOD for plants which is true >at certain amounts< . When

there is so much that Animals are affected SO ARE PLANTS making it more difficult to FEED all the

people that MAKE Greenhouse gases! Since 2001 or so the CO2 concentration is around 400 molecules

per Million of all molecules in the atmosphere; we're beginning to COOK. The Opposite; around less

than 200 PPM would also be bad so the CURE is to reach a Stable Amount between the extreme numbers.

The greenhouse effect is a natural process that warms the Earth's surface. When the Sun's energy reaches the Earth's atmosphere, some of it is reflected back to space and the rest is absorbed and re-radiated by greenhouse gases. It's not important for us, as it causes global warming ,which is not good for the earths environment.

It is when the suns light hits the earth and is absorbed to warm the earth. The greenhouse effect is critical for the survival of life on earth, as it keeps the surface temperature about 33°C warmer than it would be without the greenhouse effect. This is essential for the evolution and proliferation of life. The gases such as carbon dioxide (CO ), 2 methane (CH ), nitrous oxide (N O), Halo fluorocarbon (HFC) & Sulphur hexafluoride (SF ) which absorb the solar infrared radiation, are known as the Greenhouse Gases. The greenhouse gases act like a blanket, preventing much of the heat reflected by the earth's surface from escaping directly into space. By slowing the release of cooling radiation, these gases warm the Earth's surface. While this is a natural process that is essential to life on Earth, the trouble starts when the concentration of these Greenhouse gases in the Earth's atmosphere increases. The result is an increase in the Earth's temperature, also known as - Global Warming.

"Describe the "the greenhouse effect" why it is important for life on earth?"

The Moon gets the same insolation the Earth does on average, and its "day" swings from freezing most gases, to melting lead.

So it lowers the day / night temperature swings, and slightly increases the average temperature. It makes life possible.

Green house effect is the trapping of earth's heat by gases like carbon dioxide, nitrogen etc.It is important because without them the heat in the earth would escape into outer space
