Why do miserable people envy others ? Is there a reason why they like to put others down to make themselves feel good, How do you handle it?

This is something I have noticed , a friend of mine calls it "Blowing out someone Else's candle, to make THEIR candle brighter". I just call it like i see it...which is someone first has no integrity to do something like that , and the reason is they are so insecure, worthless feeling about themselves that they think others will believe them and somehow they are warped in their thinking to think that others will look upon them as better than they themselves know they are. It leaves me with a few questions ..first of all they know it isn't true how can it make them feel better? OK second don't they realize if someone believes them and thinks them better those people are probably not anyone you would want to think good about you anyway , they would have to be not so great themselves to make you better to them. How do I handle that when I see/hear it? I do what I like to call ....pull covers....and I will bait someone ..sometimes like say ...wow I always wondered how so and so really was , ive seen her so many times really doing a good thing ,i thought she was a phony...so how long have you been real close friends with so and so to know this? I didn't know you two were really close like that? Most of the time I think they don't even think I am setting them up they will just begin to back peddle and say well i didn't say we were close ...and they show themselves to be the insecure sad people they are. I hope I explained myself ok because it seems a little convoluted. and why do people like that feel better ? when they could use their energy doing something for real that would help them feel better? I can only guess and that would be , they don't know or care to know any better. They have been abused somehow and never been taught the skills to do things for real to make them truly feel better about themselves. Obviously they are not bright people to figure it out themselves , they are pathetic to me really.

Alphas compete by nature too, that is natural to them until they handle empathy more

Some people are just mean because trhey are spoiled so they spoil thins routinely for fun.

You will learn this is so so be prepared to look out and be discerning.
