Are your neighbours allowed to enter your house without permission?

My neighbour knocked on our door the other night to complain about something and as he was angry he actually stepped into our house without permission. Is he allowed to do that and what are the laws in the UK regarding this sort of thing?

Nope if somebody tried to do that in my home they would get a warning smack with Mr baseball bat, especially if they were being threatening.

No. But then I always keep my door locked. If you don't lock your door and you haven't told your neighbor that he can't just walk in, I don't know why it would be a crime. However, your neighbor lacks manners in not knocking before entering - not too mention it's stupid. You never know who owns weapons anymore and if the home owner might just as soon shoot you as look at you.

When I was growing up no one locked their doors ever and neighbors were constantly walking in each other's houses - that's just the way it was. Nowadays anyone who doesn't lock their doors is, at the least, foolish - or just plain stupid.

If you don't want anyone walking into your house then lock the doors or put the word out that they must knock and can't enter unless invited.

But I sure don't see that it is illegal - unless they are there to rob you, vandalize your home, rape you or murder you.

Without a court order or permission, NO ONE is legally allowed to enter my house.
