What are my chances?

I am in the 2nd semester of my junior year, I had a 4.2 (5.0 scale)first semester and it looks like I'll be ending the semester with around a 4.4(5.0 scale). However my underclassmen years were pretty lack luster. because of those years my overall gpa is kinda bad at around 2.9 (4.0 scale).

I'm not trying to get into any top tier college but I still want to go somewhere respectable. I have taken a good share of AP courses and a College course but no honors courses. ( I personally felt at the time they weren't worth it). I probably made a lot of mistakes and changing schools doesn't really help but I would like to know what kind of chances I have in College.

Update:

If it helps I'm planning on doing track next year and I did Students for Students and am currently in Computer Club and plan to go their next year too. I know colleges didn't really care about Clubs but my computer Club does a lot of voluntary work.

Learn to recalculate your current GPA as an unweighted GPA on a 4.0 scale. It is hard to tell if the 4.4 is equivalent to a 3.36 or lower because it is weighted. The bottom line for you is that if you scored 4s and 5s on your AP tests and get a strong score on the ACT or SAT, you have a decent chance at many four-year schools both public and private. If your adjusted GPA is below 3 and you have lower test scores, you'll have a much harder time finding a school, but it won't be impossible.

Use a website like BigFuture or Collegeview to enter your adjusted GPA and SAT or ACT and whatever other criteria are important to you (state or region, size, etc.). You'll get a list of schools that match.

You WILL get into college. I'm actually a junior in sem2 as well, but I have a 3.1 gpa. Just do your best grades-wise for the rest of the semester, and as long as they see you pushing yourself and trying, you will definitely get into a decent school. What state are you in? Look into EOP(Educational opportunity program) and state/city universities that have a gpa range close to yours. Good luck!

Continue to strive to improve your GPA and take A/college courses. Make sure you are involved in school is some leadership role and have a lot of volunteer service. A well rounded student is usually preferred to a 4.0 student that did nothing but classwork.
