I got a speeding ticket. What do I do?

I was going 57 in a 45. i just want this whole thing to be over. No court, just pay the fine and get over it. I'm trying to pay online, but I have an option to plead either guilty or no contest. I REALLY don't want to go to court or do anything because I'd rather not have my parents find out. I'm 19 anyway so it shouldn't matter, right? How do I just pay the ticket with no court

Really, you should go to court. It's not complicated. You may have to wait in line with others for about an hour. But, being only 19, it is best to go to court. The reason is that you can get it expunged off of your record - your insurance won't go up, you won't have repercussions when you get more tickets (and you WILL!), and you can probably get out without paying a fine (maybe just court costs of 20 dollars or so).

What you do. Go to court, dress well, plead GUILTY, be apologetic (but not pathetic), show remorse and take responsibility for your actions. If this is your first offense and you look respectable and are remorsefull, the judge will probably give you a slap on the wrist and be done with it. I'm telling you, the younger you are, the more you need to think about your future and keep your record clean as long as you can. I am in the second half of my life... nothing to look forward to... at this point in life, I would just pay a fine, lol. But when I was your age, I did just what I said to do above. THAT is what you want to do. Don't just pay it... having this on your record can also affect your ability to get jobs - whether it is a driving job or not... just go to court, it is no big deal.

When you go to court - there will be like 50 or so people there for the same types of offenses, some of them will be there for DUI - the worst of the worst. The judge will call people up one at a time for about 2-5 minutes each. That's it. No biggie. Just do it!

    Just pay it.
