I just got my retainer for my teeth today and my top teeth really hurt. Any tips to get it not to hurt as much? Thanks :)

Your mouth will get used to it in a few days to a week and it won't hurt anymore! There's nothing really to relieve the pain other than maybe advil

Retainers can be removable and non removable. Retainers take a few period to get used to, and you might encounter some pain and discomfort when your orthodontist or dental practitioner fixes your retainer. In the event that you remove your retainer, do not put it on for some time, your teeth will have moved and you may feel some pain when you try to reinsert the retainer back on. Though, retainers are nothing to be worried about.

Retainers “retain” teeth in their position after braces have been removed. After you’ve had your braces removed, teeth tend to begin to move and shift back into the way they were before – you may not notice it right away because your teeth will shift slightly day by day, but over time your teeth will return to their original, if not worse, state. If you don’t wear a retainer after getting your braces off, your teeth will shift and move instead of remaining straight. This is true no matter how long you have had your braces on for.

I feel ya, when I got my first retainer it hurt so bad I could barely keep it on. It helps to drink ice water or a hot drink, also Advil can help. Hope I helped!

Suggest that your doctor adjust it, so it won't hurt so much. Only takes a quick office visit and a few minutes of time.

Well it really depends on the cause of the toothache. But i tried this before and it worked for me. A clove of garlic with some salt and rub it on the area that hurts. Hope you feel better
