Does the government spend money for non essential travel?

North Carolina passes legislation regarding LGBT use of public bathrooms among other things. Yesterday the "White House suspended all non essential travel to North Carolina".

Nonessential travel would be everything from training to conferences to attending meetings with international delegations that want to visit NC. Essential would be military and essential functions that allow us to continue to exist as a nation.

GARF -- do we REALLY do such a bad job at teaching economics that you, among others, do not understand, cannot grasp - that we are a sovereign nation, one of the few fully sovereign nations in the world - and that this is not really a deal? Economists explain it all the time, and you and those like you just ignore the explanations and pretend that the only people who seem to fully understand the political - economy must not, because their reality - based in facts - doesn't match your fears - based in the kitchen table calculations of a small household and the terror evocation of some few stock "advisers."

Grillparzer, so then training is not essential and then maybe should be eliminated for all states with the savings then used to pay down our soon to be $20 trillion in debt?

Essential travel would be associated with operations. Nonessential travel would be training and such.
