Any good sad anime out there not named Clanaad?
I want something like Erased where it's emotional with a really good plot behind it. No moe either where the girls' eyes are twice as big as their heads likebin Clanaad, I don't care how good he story might be, I can't look past bad art.

Now and then, here and there. It's about a boy who finds himself put into a war. It's very realistic in the fact that it doesn't play him up to be a magical character who can resolve all the problems. I think it's pretty dark. I'm not sure if it will make you sad or just leave you with that "wow this was kind of dark" feeling. Im finishing it now lol!
5 centimeters per second. this is a movie though, and will only really be sad to you if the idea of separation and not being able to move on makes you sad. otherwise it might not.
nana. this won't be for you if you don't like shoujo. but it made me cry. it's very character driven
elfen lied. i read the manga, i didn't watch the anime. but i thought it was sad. it was a really long time ago though that i read it. and im not sure how the anime would be.
your lie in april. another one i read but didn't watch. my only thing with this is, i didnt actually feel a big connection to the main characters. i felt more for the friends on the side, and the big focus of emotion and sadness is on the main two. i didn't cry or anything, but many, if not every other person who watched it, thought it was very sad.
steins;gate. this could definitely be sad. it takes a bit of watching to get past some character development episodes, but about halfway i think, is when everything changes. i remember thinking it was sad seeing all the things the mc went through.
haibane renmei. this left me with more of an empty feeling at the end of it, rather than a bunch of tears. the content can be pretty sad though.
the girl who leapt through time. this is a movie, but it did make me sad. it really had a message about the time we have and not to waste it. and that message hit very hard!! there is romance involved idk how you feel about that.
edit! i've thought of more:
zankyou no terror. i thought this was very tragic. i also really connected with the girl lisa, so i might be a bit biased, but it was tragic.
no.6. never seen, but i hear a lot about it being sad. however if you are not comfortable with boy x boy romance this is not for you.
shiki. i watched this a couple months ago, and while it didn't make me cry, the circumstances are very depressing. however, im very picky about what makes me cry.
