The biggest sign is that you wonder if your friend is abusive or toxic.
You know the answer. You're just worrying about what your life will be like with one less "friend".

I'd say if they're having sex with your significant other in front of you while spitting on your things and throwing blunt objects at you, it's a good idea to end the friendship.

It could be a person who talks about you negatively behind your back or is not willing to listen when you have problems.

your "friends" make you feel bad about yourself, they only want you around on their terms and they use you (for money, to help them do bad things, etc.).
