why would a poster lie about arctic ice expanding?

to spread misinformation hoping enough of the public thinks there's an incredible world-wide conspiracy in the scientific community so politicians will favor those involved in the fossil fuel industry that continue to make record profits.

Because pretending "it's a lie" is about all deniers have left, to try and counter solid science with now a vast amount of data behind it. So they pretend Arctic ice data is a lie as they pretend sea level rise data is a lie

Some even delude themselves of the basic science that Co2 is a greenhouse gas, denial is a delusion, feed by a string of denial sites funded by groups like the oil industry, sites that have offered many theories designed to appeal to various denier groups like those that hate government or greens or communists or alternate energy or scientists or Al Gore, denial sites have put forward theories to bring in all these different groups and deniers blindly follow their pet hate theory and pretend the other don't exist.

Deniers have little choice but to claim the science is "all lies" as basically they have no science to call on and they know it. They fixate on local snow falls in the U.S. claiming this proves AGW is not happening yet they ignore what is actually happening in the Arctic, in places like Siberia

Could possibly be that the poster believes it to be true. Maybe it is the truth. Do some research and then you will know your own truth.

Maybe he doesn't know the difference between arctic and antarctic. Maybe he doesn't care. Maybe he's been brainwashed by the Koch brothers.

Your link says that the Arctic sea ice maximum extent is another record low. That is not sea ice expanding. That is sea ice decreasing. Duh.
