Is the match between Ali & Foreman was a upset match? Or Ali was a superior boxer than Foreman at that time?

This is my take. Ali got into Georges head and had him beaten in that sense. The fight was in Africa which Ali used to his advantage. If you recall the fight was suppose to happen a month earlier but George suffered a cut in training and was not allowed to leave in fear he would not return. Ali in the meantime used his charisma and manipulation tactics to turn the whole nation against George. If this fight happened in MSG or Vegas the outcome may have been different because the circumstances would not have been the same. Yes Ali predicted he would make George look like an amateur. George I believe was not physically and mentally prepared and it cost him the championship and he did not get over this loss for a long long time. He was devastated.

Upset in the sense that Ali was 8 years older and a tad slower than he used to, while George was at the peak of his career, literally tearing up the division with his vaunted punching power and his ruthless demeanor. But considering Ali's speed, boxing skills and exceptional ring IQ, you knew that he would come up with the perfect plan to neutralize Big George and he did. In that sense, you just gotta believe that Ali was indeed the superior boxer.

Foreman fought terribly that fight, Ali got into his head so he tried to knock Ali out early, was gassed out late in the fight so Ali, who had more reserve from the rope adopte, took advantage and drooped an exhausted George. Foreman was so tired he didnt seem eager to stand up and beat the ciunt, which he didn't.

It's really a combination of both. Ali had more skills than Big George, but he was the underdog. People thought Foreman would knock him out because he had tremendous power but that didn't happen. He went in their throwing looping punches and it caused him to gass. Ali took advantage of a tired George and stopped him late. As they say rumble young man rumble.

Ali outsmarted Foreman. He let foreman wear himself out and then he had a wee bit of target practice and finished off Foreman. All that yelling from Ali's corner ("Don't stay there, Ali!" "Get off the ropes, Ali!") was part of the major plan to get Foreman to do Ali's bidding, and it worked marvelously, too.
