The government says Social Security is running out of money, How come we never seem to be running out of money for welfare.?

Update:

The trustees of the Social Security system’s finances released their annual report on Wednesday afternoon. They say the combined trust funds that help pay old age and disability benefits are likely to run out by 2034, the year when today’s 48-year-olds reach full retirement age. The trustee’s estimate reflects the latest economic and demographic projections, and it changes a bit most years. Last year’s estimate for trust fund depletion was 2033.

Update 2:

So far not one person has answered the question all eash of you have done is all tried to justify welfare. That is not the question the question is very clear, why does the government give money to people that haven't earned it yet is ready to cut off money to the people to have. And don't say it is a matter of need because social security is the major source of income for almost 75% of retirees.

    LOL...

"Social Security" is not running out of money. They already spent it a loooooooooooooong time ago. It was always an immoral ponzii scheme, it is just now the reality of demographics caught up to it.

Ponzii schemes fail when there are less new victims than past victims :P The baby boomers are gonna bust the scheme wide open...

It's not running out of money, and you should be worried about the billions in corporate welfare rather than some mom trying to feed her kids.

Social Security is a large fraction of the Federal Budget. "Welfare" is primarily handled by the States, but to the extent that it consumes Federal dollars, it's a tiny fraction of the budget.

I know that's not what they tell you on the Right Wing Nutjob radio shows, but it's the truth. Look it up.

Welfare is part of the Social Security program, which has a couple dozen benefits. SSI is welfare.

The government pays out almost twice as much money to corporate welfare bums as they do individual welfare .

I realize cons like you think it is okay to suck up to the 1% but libs do not .

LIBERALS (progressives) are a big part of it.

Sad to say, the conservatives are almost as bad.

When you get more TAKERS and less MAKERS, then you have a crisis.
