If you read the second amendment it says you can own guns but there is nothing in it that says the Government has to allow the production of gun powder, bullets and cases. What if Obama made an executive order banning production of those except for government uses.

The United states has over 40 million illegals living here using more than twice as much in government welfare as what native born Americans do. If that is the case shouldn't the state start with taxing the Catholic Church. Since none of the Churches income is derived from work and is all gifts, I would think and 80% tax rate on all income and no exception from property taxes would be about right. Surprised the Pope didn't suggest that. Shouldn't the Church be setting the example for redistribution. I bet selling the Vatican would bring in a couple of nickels too he could give away.

When I went to high school in the late '60s, our high school had a gun range under the auditorium. We would bring our .22 rifles to school with ammunition, on the bus in a gun case. When we got to school we took the guns to the school office and left them there. At lunch we would go get our guns and go to the range and shoot on our own, no teachers were around. When we were done we would drop the guns off at the office and pick them up for the bus ride home. The high school was 40 years old when I went so kids had been doing that for at least 40 years and no one every got shot.

Currently about 6 percent of non- government workers belong to unions. Over 35 percent of government employees belong to unions. But since government employees are essentially a monopoly (if DMV workers go on strike you can't go to a different DMV) why should they be allowed to collective bargain and strike.

If you use some of the inflation calculators available they say a $1.00 in 1800 was worth 58 cents in purchasing power in1913. But if you take a Dollar from 1913 it takes $22.13 today to have the same purchasing power. Why did the value of a Dollar almost double over the 113 years from 1800 to 1913 and nose dive in the next 100.

A young child recently drowned in my area and the news made the statement that 10 children a day die from drowning. That would be over 3600 a year. The last year there were statistics 320 people (not just children) were killed by "assault rifles" that is 1/10 the number of kids. So why aren't the liberals screaming to banned swimming pools or charging the owner of pool that a child dies in with murder.

Silencers (real name suppressors), .30 caliber machine guns like those used by the US in Vietnam, .50 cal machine guns, include one that was used for antiaircraft fire which is really 4 .50 cal machines that fire at the same time about 2400 rounds a minute ( watch movie WaterWorld with Kevin Costner they use one in the movie) Grenade launchers, maxim machine guns, This is only a short list of guns that would continue to be legal to own and sell. So just how is banning semiautomatic guns which are just like a regular hunting rifles except they have a plastic pistol style hand grip and a retractable stock going to make you safer?
