What caused guns in schools to be so screwed up?
When I went to high school in the late '60s, our high school had a gun range under the auditorium. We would bring our .22 rifles to school with ammunition, on the bus in a gun case. When we got to school we took the guns to the school office and left them there. At lunch we would go get our guns and go to the range and shoot on our own, no teachers were around. When we were done we would drop the guns off at the office and pick them up for the bus ride home. The high school was 40 years old when I went so kids had been doing that for at least 40 years and no one every got shot.
What the heck happened that now kids are suspended for making their fingers into the shape of gun?

Did you have a teevee in your living room showing you thousands of shootings per year growing up in the 60's? Probably not.
That's just what one should expect to happen when you have a box in your living room that shows you thousands of shooting deaths per year. For some reason, humans naturally immitate what they see on teevee.
Combine dangerous pharmecutical drugs and "look at me" society and there's your recipe for murder.

Liberal gun-hating teachers & administrators.
The failure to hold students (and grown-ups) responsible, while making up excuses for them such as "they had a bad childhood".
Graphically realistic, bloody first person shooting video games.
Psychotropic medications given by school officials without the knowledge of the parents.
Zero-intelligence policies like throwing out kids for chewing their pop-tart into a gun shape.
There were far fewer accidental shootings back when kids were taught the proper use of firearms than now when they're taught to fear and despise guns.

My school had the same thing, plus, while in ROTC, we carried functional M-1 Garand rifles. But bach then, the government did not interfer with parenting.... my dad took the switch to me and I was brought up right. Today, the government calls dicipline a crime. It"s the fault of the government!

Because children shoot up schools now obviously. That is a symptom of an unhealthy society. People need to wake up so we can fix this.

We have to fix the people.
We've taken morality and ethics and respect out of our schools..
Druggie parents allow their children to be as stupid as they can be ..
And we don't allow our parents to correct bad behavior
or teachers to protect themselves..
Other than that, I guess our schools are the same as they have always been..
Filled with people who need training and common sense and education.

(You must have gone to the kind of school where they didn't teach very much "real history", huh? There have been REGULAR incidents of school shootings in North American since the 1760's!.....)
