what is a published file? that sounds like a webpage? not a vb6 option. be more specific. usually disabling is not an option, but writing proper code to NOT do the normal thing is the way you get round a default windows provided function. the thread below shows some coding that might cover what you need, or might be totally different issue,but that's because of the way you asked the question
