I am currently caught up in the same thing and can tell you - unless it is a large sum of money, just let it go. It is a headache, frustrating, and is causing me to have to deal with him when all I want is to be left alone from him and his BS.
So unless we talking above thousand dollars or if you have had enuff of him and his mess, maybe just leave it alone.

If you have any sort of proof, yes. Take him to court. If you really have texts, save them - print them out just in case something happens to your phone.

Yes, go to small claims court,take proof that it was a loan.

Depending on how much it is, and what you have to prove he legally owes you that money--beyond your word--it may not be worth your while.

only if you can prove the validity o the debt
