It's an obsession, when the dog licks EVERYTHING. When your dog licks, calmly give a surprise touch to snap the brain out of it. Say "no" or what ever word works for you, and stay with confident energy,

until the dog stops. The less you say, and the more you feel the outcome you want, the better, and be patient enough to succeed. You can't put a time limit on it. Some dogs let it go right away, and some need to be reminded from time to time, but always stay calm, and show your confidence with body language. It does work.

You will help your dog to be happy, and balanced, not obsessive.

Dogs (especially females) use licking for comfort. It's a stress reliever. I have a chihuahua who I rescued a few years ago who does the same thing. She will lick the wall for hours on end. It's just a nervous tick.

Because you allow it to and haven't bothered to correct this poor behavior. Licking is how they keep themselves clean anything in excess of that needs correction and/or a diagnosis/treatment by a vet.
