Poodle-cross is 15-years old. She falls all the time and ...?

Can't see or hear well. Vets are always trying to sell me something and wanted to operate last year. Is there anything I can do to calm her - she gets disoriented and it breaks my heart. She eats, drinks and poos properly - any suggestions?

Have you considered getting a second opinion from another vet? Has the vet done a comprehensive wellness exam which should include a complete blood workup, urine/fecal, dental, and if indicated UTD vaccines, x-rays, echo cardiogram, neurological exam?

Have you discussed with the vet all options, possible treatments other than surgery, prognosis, quality of life? NO? Then please do so, then put your feelings aside and do what is best for the dog.

Can`t see or hear very well and falls over all the time, gets disorientated !!!!!

And you think this is quality of life?

15 is old for any dog and once it gets as bad as you describe its unkind to allow the dog to linger on.

YOU do not know for sure that the dog is not feeling any pain. Dogs are very stoic and do not show pain unless its really excruciating. She may be suffering more than you realise.

If you love your dog you will do the right thing by her and let her die in dignity by having her painlessly euthanised. This is the final act of love any caring owner can do for their dog.

Your dog...your choice...please make it the right one for your dogs sake.

Her quality of life is bad. She's only going to get worse at her age. Please consider euthanasia, before she gets worse. She's suffering to death.
