    5% of the time it's genuine - they really feel fortunate to have you, and recognize that they can be a pill to be around. 95% of the time it's just an easy out - a way to end things with you in a sort of "it's not you, it's me" type of thing.

    It is a self deprecating statement made by a person that doesn't think very highly of themselves and doesn't deserve to be in a relationship with you.
