How do I know if I have ADD/ADHD?

I am now in 7th grade have just started to notice that I always have way more energy than everyone else and find it hard to pay attention. I have always been like this it is just that I just noticed this was happening. I was talking to my friend about how I can t pay attention in class, so she asked if I have ADD/ADHD because her brothers do. I talked to my mom about her saying that and my mom said that there is no way that I do. I still wonder if I do because I cannot watch a movie without having to get up and have to rewatch a lot of it because I cannot pay attention. When I am reading I have to go back and reread a lo of the things that I read. I got interested in if I could have it so I watched a video about what people with ADHD go through everyday, and I related to all of it. Is there any way that I could have ADHD/ADD?

Update:

I do not want you to respond saying that what I am doing might be boring, stuff like this always happens, those were a few examples. My mom already said that she does not think I have it so I feel like I cannot ask her to take me to get some tests done. I want to know your opinion on if I have it and if you think I have it how could I convince my mom to let me get some tests done.

Well, yes, anyone can have this disorder, but a medical doctor has to make the diagnosis.

If you're concerned, talk with your school guidance counselor or the principal if you have no counselor. Let them know what you are experiencing. They may have resources to help.

I think that label ADD/ADHD get used far too much.

It could be that you're intelligent and the teacher/class is boring.

Some films are boring, and I find my mind wandering if its dull.

It could also be that you are an energetic person.

None of these are bad points to you, so why try and label yourself as such?

Your mind wandering when watching a film or reading is not an issue either - could easily be that you're distracted, the subject matter is dull or if you believe you do had ADD/ADHD then manifesting psychosomatic symptoms.

    You may experience:

Behavioural: aggression, excitability, fidgeting, hyperactivity, impulsivity, irritability, lack of restraint, or persistent repetition of words or actions

Cognitive: difficulty focusing, forgetfulness, problem paying attention, or short attention span

    Mood: anger, anxiety, or excitement

Also common: depression or learning disability

Ask to see your doc where they perform a few simple tests

Possibly, but you have to have quite a lot of symptoms to be officially diagnosed (it has to affect your work, happiness, etc).
